In 1776, the same year United States of America gained independence, the Kingston Public Hospital was established. Two hundred and thirty-four years later, this institution still stands as a beacon, guiding the course of health care in Jamaica. Kingston Public Hospital: The High Seat of Medicine in Jamaica will show that this hospital has gone through many changes and challenges to its development, but has still managed to stand tall and proud as the ‘grand old lady of North Street’. It has exemplified the vision, creativity and resourcefulness of the Jamaican people to whom it is dedicated.
